    Tax year & currency

    Supported coverage
    Single filer · federal only
Federal tax is only part of the bill
This estimate covers a single resident employee. State and local income taxes are excluded, so the balance shown is not a complete US take-home salary.
The standard deduction reduces taxable income
For the supported 2026 single-filer scenario, $16,100 is subtracted before the federal brackets apply. A deduction is not a dollar-for-dollar tax credit.
    Payroll contributions have different ceilings
Social Security is 6.2% on earnings up to $184,500. Medicare is 1.45% without that ceiling, with an additional 0.9% above $200,000 in this scenario.
Your top bracket does not tax every dollar
The 10%–37% federal rates apply to successive slices of taxable income. Payroll contributions are separate from the income-tax bracket.
    Filing status changes the calculation
Married, head-of-household, nonresident and itemized-deduction scenarios are not supported here. Do not use this single-resident estimate as a substitute for those rules.

    2026 United States income-tax bands

These are marginal rates on taxable income, not percentages on your entire gross salary. Credits, deductions and employee contributions are applied separately. Federal income tax only; regional tax is excluded.
